One of the city’s most emblematic visits, the Gothic quarter of
Barcelona, as well as the El Born or Ribera quarters. A historical walk that will allow you to discover the most famous medieval monuments of one of the most important 13th and 14th century cities in the Mediterranean area.
The tour will begin in the Piazza Nova to then discover the st Bisbe
to get to the Plaza de San Jaume, the political center of the
city. We will continue along Libreteria Street until we reach the
King’s Square, symbol of the crown of Aragon and Catalonia.
You will visit the palace of Lloctinent or del Virrey, with a stop
in the most artistic corner to admire the apse of the Cathedral and
get up to the main facade of the Temple, the Cathedral of
Barcelona, built on Peleo-Christian remains, with a Romanesque chapel, a Gothic interior and a neo-Gothic facade.
You will then cross the Roman walls and enter the
Ribera district, a strategic center of the city’s artisans
to reach The Basilica of Santa Maria del Mare, the most beautiful
example of Catalan Gothic architecture, to get to the Paseo
del Born and Montcada Street, full of elegant palaces of the aristocratic
medieval.
Did you know that the city of Barcelona preserved the original walls
medieval walls until 1854?
Most of the Gothic buildings in the city were
built with stone from the mountain of Montjüic.
